what are the most important things to go on a web site and how do we drive people to our site

That is an excellent question. What do you do exactly?
I think the two most important things are
1. Be very clear about what you do – make it easy for people to get to know you and do business with you
2. If you are selling product/services, this should be featured prominently on your home page. You only have 7 seconds to make a good first impression and capture attention.
